Re: another 4.7ho swap question

Yes, both should be Jtec to make things easier. A lot more work otherwise.

Re: another 4.7ho swap question

This may sound amateurish; but if you look at the following link;it says that the 545RFE was also paired with 5.7 Hemi.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysle...RFE_and_545RFE
Is it possible to swap a 99-02 WJ with a 5.7L Hemi and 545RFE?Has anyone done it?What are the constraints associated with this project?
*Please pardon my ignorance.

Re: another 4.7ho swap question

Has anyone tried this on a WJ.This seems like an inexpensive 45RFE to 545RFE mod:

Re: another 4.7ho swap question

In 2002 is when they started the 5-Speed O/D in the V8s(99-01 WERE ALL 4-Speeds the 4.0 and the 4.7)so you need a new transmission from a 2002-2004 Grand Cherokee V8 5 speed and your 4x4 may have to be changed(only if you have selet-trac Now)

Nope Same tranny (except for 4.0) just a simple software revision. A lot of the early V8 45RFE's were reflashed at the dealer to be 5 speeds. Actually even the 545's only upshift 4 times they just have 2 different passing gear ratios depending on how fast you're going and how hard you mash the throttle.

Re: 4.7L H.O. Swap Question

Very good post. Not to hog the post but my sons 2001 was bought from a previous owner with a swapped 4.7 year not known. Wiring lacked needed 2 more o2 sensors [codes] I had a harness from a 1999 and paid for the swap of wires. Solved the o2 codes, but have had a persistent 0505 code, which is needed cleared for emission passing. Changed it out with 3 but still have the code, My question, possible PCM issue because of swap. Wiring chks out fine no issues. Sure could use some help. What in the vin# indicates 4.0 or 4.7, wondering what engine came out. Thanks.
