Solved the o2 codes, but have had a persistent 0505 code, which is needed cleared for emission passing. Changed it out with 3 but still have the code, My question, possible PCM issue because of swap. Wiring chks out fine no issues. Sure could use some help. What in the vin# indicates 4.0 or 4.7, wondering what engine came out. Thanks.

Here is a quick Link for that code. May just be a malfunctioning IAC like the code suggests.. P0505 IAC (Idle Air Control) System Malfunction

Re: 4.7L H.O. Swap Question

Apologies for bumping this old post, but I have a similar issue. I roll over my 99 grand Cherokee 4.7 and I just recently purchased a 02 grand grand Cherokee that came with 4.7 HO on it. However, since I have built engine already, I sold the HO and transferred my old engine to the new body (02). So here is the problem, I’m using my old ECU in the new GC. However, the new GC has an extra 3 pin connector on the wires coming from the firewall and the fuse box. Does anyone know if I can use my 1999 GC harness or do I have to use the 02 engine harness and just don’t connect the extra o2 sensors and knock sensors?
Thanks

Re: 4.7L H.O. Swap Question

I would guess you can use the harness you have. They are both JTEC PCM's or should be. I think during those years they changed the cat setup and the Knock sensor you can leave off with your Old PCM.

Re: 4.7L H.O. Swap Question

That's what I did, I canceled the 3rd plug completely, the additional plug is only needed for the knock sensors and the extra 02 sensors.
The only problem I have encountered so far is that It does not have a cooling fan module relay anymore, therefore is triggering the check engine light. I replaced the hydraulic fan with an electric fan anyways, so I just need to find a way to cancel that signal, and everything should be good to go.
