Yes, fill it and start it
Just fill it until the cold full mark, start the engine and let the torque converter fill. Select the transmission lever through the whole range, keeping it at each position for some seconds. Check level again, now with the engine running, and keep it at the cold full mark. Now drive until heated up (20 km) and check the level to be at the full hot mark and fill if necessary.

Re: 545rfe swap

Awesome, so it took 13qts. Took it for a drive and shifts fine. Has the occasional hard od shift but shifts smooth 90%. I am not doing another swap again to much pita and time consuming

Re: 545rfe swap

Since transmission and TCM are not fine tuned to each other, it would be best to do a quick learn on the TCM with the use of a DRBIII scan tool. The memory of the TCM will be set back to factory standard and the CVI s to basic settings, whereafter the TCM will learn the CVI s from the new transmission in a quick way. Not using the quick learn will extend a lot the relearn time and can cause harsh shifts.

Re: 545rfe swap

So drove to work today finally reaching 19mpg on the overhead display. Seems like it kicks into od quicker then the last trans. I ran the dirty oil from the bad trans through a strainer and holy moly, glitter galore

Re: 545rfe swap

So almost at a week, drives good shifting better, but now my output seal on trans is pissing. I did the front one one the pump along with the o-ring on the torque converter, but dont remember seeing a seal for the tail shaft. So now remember replace all visible seals so you dont have to do it again, atleast its on the rear of the trans so only t/c has to come off.
