Was it the tensioner, or one of the pulley bearings? The pulley bearings are known to loose their grease over time and lock up, causing the pulley to desintegrade.
Its a good idea to check the pulleys once in a while and re-grease them or replace them when making noise. You can remove the grease shield with a sharp knive and clean the bearing and put new grease in there.

50 for new tensioner assembly
20 per pulley.
29 for basic belt
