Question AC Compressor Does't start WJ 02

Hi guys. During the winter I took my Jeep to the mechanic who will replace the radiator system. They did it But, time later I notice that there is a circuit exposed. And the compressor does not start now.
I have some photos about this. Screenshot by Lightshot and Screenshot by Lightshot Out fromhere to the radiator Screenshot by Lightshot

Thank You.

Re: AC Compressor Does't start WJ 02

Seems that during the removal of the radiator the connector of the pressure switch for the AC system broke of. Not at home now and cant check the manual for the exact name of the pressure switch (hi or low pressure switch).

Re: AC Compressor Does't start WJ 02

That is definitely one of the AC pressure switches. I don't know the WJ so I don't know which one.

You'll need to replace it. Not knowing the WJ, I don't know if you have to drain the AC system to replace it.

When you have a chance let me know what would be HI or Low. To buy the right one. Thanks for your answers Frango100 & tomk.

Re: AC Compressor Does't start WJ 02

It is the AC High pressure switch. You can remove it without draining the AC system, it has a schräder valve build into the fitting which closes when the switch is removed. A little bit of refrigerant can escape while removing and installing the switch, but its almost nothing.
Just for info, the low pressure switch sits on top of the accumulator. Also 2004 models don´t have a Low and High preesure switch, but a pressure transducer only in the place of the High pressure switch. To prevent the evaporator from freezing closed, there is a temperature sensor mounted on the evaporator (2004 only).
On the pre- 2004 models, the Low pressure switch is taking care of the freezing protection.

The pressure switch comes out unscrewing it. Did you already look at Rockauto.com for the switch?

Re: AC Compressor Does't start WJ 02

I just had a look at Rockauto.com. You have to go to your model year, then grand cherokee 4.7, electrical switch & relay and then AC clutch switch. USD 17. The more expensive one is the pressure transducer for the 2004 models.

Re: AC Compressor Does't start WJ 02

Have a look at the accumulator to see if there is a pressure switch mounted on top of it. (low pressure switch). If there is, then for sure the broken one is the high pressure switch and not a pressure transducer. I never saw the pressure switch open, but i believe that it has a low pressure contact and a high pressure contact, so can be used in both the low and high pressure switch positions.
On the references you had made on your post, the lower one is the pressure transducer, so should not be for you. The upper one is the pressure switch.

I look at the accumulator to see if there is a pressure switch mounted on top of it But there's NO other than the one I show you in the picture here Screenshot by Lightshot. It seems to be only one in my Jeep 2002. Thank You.

Re: AC Compressor Does't start WJ 02

Is your jeep European build? As far as i could find, should the 02 MY have the Low and High pressure switches, but if the accumulator doesn´t have one, then it almost seems that you have the single pressure transducer. Strange.
