Best Replacement Front CV Joint?

I'm not sure about CV joints. Everything I've ever done is standard u-joints. But I'm going to assume what's below is bad as the end of the boot isn't actually connected to anything.

So now I need to replace the CV with a new one. Does anyone have any recommendations on brand or company to buy a quality replacement? I have the whole driveshaft out but don't feel like buying a new one or getting one from the junkyard. This one has lasted me 160k miles and if I can get that out of another CV joint, that's fine with me.

This is a common thing to happen, the rubber boot dries out and ruptures. The grease goes out, but probably worse, dirt goes in. Sand and other debris will cause the joint to wear rapidly.
I bought my replacement CV joint from Rockauto, a bit less then USD 100 i believe. I think its from Dorman, but made in China.

How many miles do you have on your new CV joint and has it shown any signs of wear? If Dorman makes decent replacement joints, I'll get one ordered so I can stop driving around with 1 drive shaft. The front u-joint is also starting to have a little movement so it's getting replaced as well.

On the job now, so can´t check it, but it should have at least 50K Km on it now. The Dorman joint is the only one they sell on Rockauto.

Just had a look into my archieves, and changed the CV joint in April 2011, that is 65K km ago and holding strong.

I got the CV joint in the mail and changed it out tonight. Then I wanted to watch football and it's sitting on the bench finished, just need to install the driveshaft. Talk about a greasy messy job. Hopefully everything works out well. I took special care to get grease in all the ball bearings area and in the boot.
