Re: Build Thread - Bandit

Put the bumper build on hiatus til after lift install, so i just painted the front unibody Black and left bumper off.
Used some leftover Engine Block Paint in a satin black. Ill rock that for a couple weeks no biggy.

Put Front Sway bar back on, and added the RC Quick Discos.
-Greased all threads (which were surprisingly tiny) really well as usual.
-Wasn't expecting them to mount on the outside of the original axel mount (like in the doodle pic) that really threw me off.
-No hardware for the brackets that hold them up when discoed so I left those off.

This is a comon point for the EVAP hose to dry out and crack. If your jeep has the leak detection pump, it would sooner or later throw you a code for EVAP leak detected.

Yeah, it wasn't throwing any codes yet. The hose hadn't crack all the way through yet, but it was only a matter of time. Kinda glad I caught it when I did.

Picked up a Limited Bumper and Grill at the Junkyard while looking for a Drive shaft.
-No Drive shaft found... well not a Double Cardon one anyhow.

Just ordered some shocks from Kolak.
He had a great deal, Bilstein 5100s on sell for $289 free shipping.
Unfortunately I have a few bills to pay, so I'll have to wait a little for those.
For now I'll Run Pro Comp 9000s. I ordered them with 29" extended measurement. Which should be about right.

Re: Build Thread - Bandit

While I wait on shocks, ive started to plan out the next phase of my build.

Axel swaps
Gonna be a slow build on these cause its pricey, but im gonna build a rear first it looks like.
Talked to some guys over on Mallcrawlin, im leaning towards swaping the d35 out for a 44a thats beefed up.
-ill start with a dana 44a, truss it, skid it, and regear it for 4.56.
-Id like a selectable locker on it, so i can just turn it on when i go off road. (Cable seem to be a little cheaper than elec. or air).
-44a will save alot of time and work as well, this way i want have to fab up custom brackets etc.

If anyone Has a 44a laying around Hit me up, If shipping doesnt kill me I can make a reasonable offer. or if anyone has a a true 44 or a ford 8.8 they are willing to part with cheap let me know.

Started on the lift today before work, hoping to finish up over the weekend.

-Realized my 2Ton Jack stands weren't tall enough So I picked up some 6tons. (They extend up to 26")
-Did the tool borrow program from Advance Auto Parts, but I accidentally got the coil compressors that go inside the coil, gotta take them back and get the outside ones.

Started on the rear first quickly ran into a few issues.

Rear upper isolators(only) were MELTED ... not squashed or dry rotted but melted lol. Litterly had to peel them off the coil perches and retainers with a flat head screw driver.
They were fine last april/May when I put the Budget Boost on. Not sure what caused this as that part shouldn't be hot... I do live in a beach town maybe a combo of Salt/Dry rot/Heat.

Also noticed my rear tires are wearing on the inside heavily, I was gonna rotate them all anyhow, and adjust toe in/out.

Then on top of that one of the few used parts I bought off ebay upper rear A-Arm spacer came with bolts but they are too short. They look like they must be the stock size bolts.
Contacted Kevins Offroad and they gave me the specs for the bolts, Very helpful customer service... messaged me back within an hour.
Hopefully I can find them at Lowe's or homedepot. .. 14mm x 100mm, coarse thread (2.0), they said grade 8 but I thought it was 8.8 or 10.9 ?
