Cel p1281

So I recently replaced my waterpump last week along with my thermostat figuring I probably should while I'm in there. Well I got a code today which is P1281 which means the engine is running too cool from what I understand. I guess my question is , is it likely that my brand-new thermostat is a dud?? I have the Inline 6 with 144,000 miles. And the thermostat I got was off of rock auto. It was a stant 195 degree. Thanks!

Re: Cel p1281

Yes, most probably the new thermostat opens too soon, causing the engine not to reach its normal operating temperature.
