Dilema help

With the new edition of my daughter to the family when i bring her in the truck and my dog in the back my rustys 2.5 lift coils are a little harsh for them. So i took them out and put back my oem springs (100k) and my 2"bb still have stock isolatirs and rides nice and smooth for them. My delima is that the other day i had my dog in the back the baby in the back seat my wife and i in the front and some items on the hitch rack for a picnic at the beach and the back was sagging. I measured this morning center hub the fender and im at 20 front and 21 rear so i assume my springs are still good? Should i get new oem spring and isolators with air bag assit kit Or new isolators and air bag kit because my springs seem like they havent really sagged I do light towing single jet ski 1500lb popup camper and very light trail riding Any suggestions on which route to take for my situation?

Re: Dilema help

What you describe doesn't seem to be enough weight to make the vehicle sag significantly, unless your picnic lunch was really heavy. Is it possible that you are just not used to the vehicle with the oem springs.

Did you make any measurements with the same load in the vehicle and compare it to an empty vehicle? Of course you'll need a substitute for you in the driver's seat.

Re: Dilema help

It doesn't take much weight to droop stock WJ springs and they seem ok unladen. You'll be just fine with a set of in the coil bags.

I did a few test today with different wieghts. When i first measured my truck it was with 1/4 tank of gas so i filled it up and it dropped it a 1/2 inch to 20 1/2 in the rear. Then i put my cargo carrier on (20lbs) then two five gallon gas cans filled with gas and it dropped it down another 1/4 inch to 20 1/4 in the rear and the frnt went up to 19 1/4. Is this normal?

Based on your original post, the front went down, not up.

Did you also have a driver/passenger in the front?

Could worn out isolators affect the weight sag or is it mostly about the spring rates?

Re: Dilema help

Isolators could make a difference. Pair that with saggy springs and you end up with what I am dealing with on my WJ. My plan is to install NEW isolators along with stock UpCountry springs. :-D
