factory alarm

help! my factory alarm will only set with the remote. it will not set when i lock the door using the electric lock button. my 1999 did but 2000 won't did they change something?

Welcome to the garage.
No, they didn' change anything as far as i know. On my 2004 the alarm also arms using the internal lock switch. I don't have access to the service manual now, i will have a look when at home for the possible fault.
I presume that all doors lock when using the internal lock switch?
At this point i would presume a problem with the drivers door module or eventually a broken wire in the drivers door boot.

yes they do, but the alarm does not set unless i use the remote

Just looked into the manual and the only thing they mention which can prohibit the so called pre-arming, is the key in ignition switch. I only wonder if this same switch would also not prevent arming of the alarm with the remote. You can test this switch according attached method.

Just checked the theory of the ignition switch on my jeep. But with the key in the ignition you can't even lock the doors from the drivers side, or the door has to be closed (and you consequently inside to lock it).
