grand cherokee alarm system change

im getting very tired of the original alarm fob not working when i press the button usualy 5-6 attempts to unlock or lock does my head in
always clean the fob and circuits and change battery

anyone recommend a kit that could replace it so it works better
sometimes i have to press the fob more than 1015 times and stand there looking like im tryna steal the car
delt with it for a couple years now but want the problems sorted now

Re: grand cherokee alarm system change

The key fob is a well known thing to fail or at least it is well known to not function well at long distances. The receiver is mounted on the passengers door module. Try to unlock it standing close to the passengers door, if it works well, then the key fob is not the problem, but it can be that the antenna wire broke off.
Some people tried longer wires, but i have never heard of the results of this.

Re: grand cherokee alarm system change

Most of the time I'm at the passenger side to unlock as I have to put work stuff in it it's weird as some times it works 1st time others times takes forever
I' no the module is in passenger side door I'm guessing the antenna wire would be a single black wire will check it out

I've got two fobs and both have failed twice in the space of 3 months... new battery's everytime sorts BUT I don't understand they drain so quickly it's like they're both permantly pressed on or something... annoying, so I'd love to see replacement fobs...
