Hello, new here and question about an issue...

Hey all, on Monday I just purchased a 2000 Grand Cherokee Limited! I'm pretty happy with it I must say. It has the 4.7 and all the bells and whistles which apparently all work. Except low range, or so the seller says. I haven't tried it yet but he told be low range doesn't work and that it "only needs" a shift fork. I thought I would check in here to find out what I should try to test first and if it's likely that he is right. I am being cautious since I don't want to make anything worse by just trying it.

The T-case is a Quadra-Trac II

P.S. I'm 53 and this is my FIRST 4X4 vehicle!! LOL

Thanks

Welcome to the garage.
Quadra Trac II uses the NV247 T-case. I would first look if the shifter cable is attached to the T-case and if the cable end moves when selecting 4Lo.
Sometimes the front prop shaft is removed due to some problem, so also look at that.

Well, I haven't looked into it yet, but I did do one thing and that's try the shifter... it feels like the cable isn't hooked up at all. So, when I have a bit of time, I will take it to my work on a weekend and put it on the hoist to have a peek at the problem.
