Re: HELP! Engine/Grounding problems.

Doesn´t look good at all, you could indeed try some contact spray, but i wonder if that helps.
Looking at the newspaper, are you from Norway or Sweden?

Re: HELP! Engine/Grounding problems.

Yeah the PCM is probably toast. The newspaper might be Swedish in fact as I have family there but no I live in Italy north of Milano.

Re: HELP! Engine/Grounding problems.

Hello again...NEWS!

The refurbished PCM from Auto Computer Exchange arrived today and it works!! Also replaced the alternator with one from the junkjard. I did not try and run the car with the old alternator as I am not willing to risk my new PCM.

I had been searching more about Auto Computer exchange and came across alot of negative comments about them with non functioning PCMs and re refund issues etc. I dont know what to say other than to be vigliant if you are to purchase from them. I did however not have any problems, but lets see for how long the car runs...knock on wood.

The only thing I found is that the engine runs a bit less agressive with this PCM...when you used to hit the throttle it reved immediately, now it is more gentle...not slow, just more gentle.

The milage I reported was 170000km but it has remained at the last milage of 173820? keys workes fine too with remote central locking.

The whole deal with PCM, freight (2 days from US to europe with Fedex) and second hand alternator landed at 650:-USD. Not cheap but alot cheaper than a Jeep garage as they will not reprogram a second hand PCM from junkjard (Jeep says it cant be done), and new ones seems hard to get by even for Jeep. It also seems such a replacement + programing will land at 3-4000:-USD!!

Hope this thread can help others in the future if needed...however I seriously hope you are spared a PCM failure.

Thanks for all good advice and take care,

Phil

Re: HELP! Engine/Grounding problems.

Not sure why the odometer distance has to be programmed into the PCM, but the instrument cluster has its own memory and keeps the odometer data.
Good to hear that the problem is fixed.
