TB spacers? RLY?

TB spacers on these things are like drugs....Just say no...

Re: Help With Collaborative Guide On Recommended WJ Mods/Additions

Depends on the vehicle it's on and the set up, TBS on it's own doesn't noticeably produce results

No setup pertinent to a WJ can benefit from a TBS. These arent throttle body injected and the spacers themselves do not make hardly any difference to plenum volume.

Sounds good but you may want to work on sounding like a smarta** sometimes, not everyone is as well informed of Throttle Bodies as yourself.

Its not a smartass post, its a cut and dry answer. I explained that the benefits of a TBS (and there are benefits - but not on these) are not relevant to a WJ, and briefly explained why. Gus is right - but only to a point.

I sometimes post from a smartphone, so of course I'm going to be brief and concise.

IMHO there is no point in discussing something proven to not work, beyond a brief explanation of why they don't work on these. Im all for wasting as little time as possible -both as a poster and end-user -explaining or reading that a given mod just doesnt work, and ____ mod should be done instead.

Alright, I just thought you had a certain tone about you like you sometimes do. No worries though.

Re: Help With Collaborative Guide On Recommended WJ Mods/Additions

He did sound like a smartass, but I understood he wasn't trying to purposely sound like he was being one. Others may not think so because his wording, like he should have left out the "TB spacers? RLY?" part, that made him sound like a smartass. And FlyinRyan is right concerning the WJ. I'm used to using them on vehicles where they do actually make a difference.

Re: Help With Collaborative Guide On Recommended WJ Mods/Additions

Here's a good one for FlyinRyan, he'll probably know more about this stuff. What about other things that people add on, like those Air Intake Maximizers (I've heard those are a total waste of money). You could add what actually works and what is just tossing money down the drain. (For example, my WJ is a 2WD 6 cyl., so any lil bit that actually works, helps lol)

You know, I actually had to look at what an air intake maximizer actually is, lol. I wish I could find a breakdown of what is inside, etc. If it's a series of blades in stages much like the compressor does in a turbofan jet engine, in theory, the end result (assuming it worked like a jet engine) would be additional air velocity, but at the expense of HEAT.

If this were to do what they claim, it would in theory create boost, which would freak the PCM out. Our PCMs can only understand a very, very small amount of positive pressure (as opposed to vacuum).

I'm a pretty open-minded guy , but I'm inclined to say this doesn't work, and probably provides a restriction in the intake.

Re: Help With Collaborative Guide On Recommended WJ Mods/Additions

I know right, I'm amazed at what people put in their vehicles lol. And I agree, it would seem to only work in theory and I think that it would also only freak the PCM out and provide intake restriction.

^^^

I don't think anyone has started on it. This was just to pool ideas.
