Hooter, speedo cruise, Airbag warning

Dear All,

Please help with the following. Since researching extensively regarding the subject, it seemed that my clockspring was the cause of the problem. So I replaced the clockspring at a cost of $200, and the hooter, speedo still doesn't work and airbag warning light remains ON. Can someone please advise what else could be the problem.

Re: Hooter, speedo cruise, Airbag warning

Just to understand your problem better, what do you mean with hooter? And in the title you say speedo cruise, is this just the speedo meter?
Either way, i would start with the instrument panel test: with ignition switch in off, push the odometer reset button and while pressed, switch the ignition in run. Now all instrument panel lights will come on and the dials will go full scale, than return to normal indication. Odometer will count 000000, 11111 etc. Once the test begins, you can release the button.

Re: Hooter, speedo cruise, Airbag warning

Hi Frango, and thanks for your reply.
Just to clarify my issue. My Hooter, Speedo cruise, doesn't work. My airbag light on the instrument panel is ON and doesn't go OFF. I was told that this is related to a faulty clockspring, so I replaced the clockspring(NEW).

My problem is I was expecting after replacement of the clockspring that the hooter, speedocruise to start working and also for the airbag light to go OFF.

Hope this clarifies.
Rgds,
Vik

Re: Hooter, speedo cruise, Airbag warning

Hooter is the horn? (was slightly thinking at something else , but didnīt see the connection)
So horn and speed control donīt work and the Airbag light is on. Indeed the clockspring would be a logical choise, since signals from all three would pass through there. Did all these problems start at the same time?
Since the horn circuit is the simplest of the three, i would start measuring there. See until where you have voltage available and if the ground is ok.

Thanks Frango for your reply and PDF. The horn is a good place to start.
