This engine doesn´t have push rods, its an overhead cam engine. I won´t expect a rocker has fallen of (yet), because it runs smooth in idle, but a lifter can have gone bad. If so, i would only change that lifter.

If the problem is a failing lash adjuster, then by checking the play on the rockers will show which one it is. Normally there is no play on them.

well what I mean is there is gonna be some play while the engine is off. as there is no oil pressure on the lifters. the trick is knowing what normal play is and whats not normal however slight the play is.

A good hydraulic lifter will keep the oil inside and prevent any play. As soon as it starts leaking, the oil will flow out and play on the lash adjuster can be felt.
I remember that when i changed the valve stem seals on my 4.7, that there was no play at all on any of the rockers. The engine was then off for at least 12 hours.

So best is to take the valve cover of and check the rocker play. You will have to rotate the crankshaft with a socket and bar, because the valves which are opened, ofcourse will not show any play.
Did you also listen at the timing cover, to be sure the noise is not coming from there?

Did you rotate the crankshaft to get each cylinder in its compression stroke at a time, so that both inlet and exhaust valves are closed and the lifters can be checked?
Which bearings are you talking about now, the cam bearings?
