Re: i have a knocking sound rom the engin

According the manual there is an insert which fits in the place of the bolt and then they use a puller to pull the damper of.

Re: i have a knocking sound rom the engin

As far as i can see the balancer is a one piece part. The tool which fits in the center of the balancer seems to be just a spacer where the puller bolt pushes on. Unable to send manual pages .

Re: i have a knocking sound rom the engin

Ok got it pulled the engine down a bit to check it out so what i found if your looking into your engine bay is the left hand side chane was nice and tight no real movement
The right hand side had about 1cm of movement
I also checked the caps and the cams there was some small scoring and minor pit marks and had a bit of sluge build up around the bolts. From the scoring on the cams i would take a stab and say the crank would be the same or just as bad.

Re: i have a knocking sound rom the engin

So there is something wrong with the right tensioner or guides. Also did you see the scoring on both cams or only one side? Did it look like if there was lack of oil to the head(s)?
You did see the secundary chains, did you also see the primary chain?

Re: i have a knocking sound rom the engin

Ok its been a long time from the last post i replaced the whole timing kit again and put it back together but when i started it the knock was still there so i would say one or more of the botgom end bearings are gone is there a easy way to take the sump off to get a look inside to see if any thing looks susspect or is it a full engine out job

Re: i have a knocking sound rom the engin

You can take the oil pan of with the engine in place, but you will need to remove the starter motor, Y-pipe and structural cover (the one between engine and transmission). For removing the Y-pipe you only have to turn the bolts, the nuts have a locking tab which prevent them from turning. Some PB blaster or alike on the nuts will ease the job.
I removed the pan on mine when i had the transmission down and i can tell you it was quite a job to get the pan of. There is an oil pan gasket which forms one piece with a windage tray and it is mounted with three bolts to the engine (together with the oil pick-up tube). So if you use some pry tool, only use it between the pan and the gasket. When i finally had the pan of, the gasket was not useable anymore. So i would advice to buy a new gasket/windage tray before you start opening it up.
I didn´t go through the previous posts, but did you measure the oil pressure? The knock and pits on the cams point to an oil delivery problem. When i took my pan of to check the oil pick-up screen, i found a piece of aluminum foil in it (most probably from an oil bottle seal).
