Hello, My 2002 Grand Cherokee 4.7 Laredo had an energetic dis-assembly and I was without a Jeep for a while. Now I am trying to get back into one. I am looking at a 2004 GC Limited with 4.7 and Quadra-Trac. My 02 had Selec-Trac. What I'm wondering is, is the Quadra as good as the Selec-Trac. Is the o4 GC a problem platform does it have the same troubles with broken door wires etc.? Any info will help me out, but I miss my Jeep.

Welcome back to the garage.
Eventhough most of the problems from previous years where overcome, the 2004 still suffers from broken wires in door boots and blend door problems on the AZC (dual zone) AC. (i never had any AC problems on mine, with now 200.000 km).
Quadra-Trac uses the NV247 T-case. This T-case has a progressive coupling in it, which will automatically transfer torque to the front wheels, as soon as a speed difference between front and rear propeller shaft occurs. This coupling can wear out (its in fact a clutch pack) and you would loose the front wheel drive in 4 All-time. 4-Lo will still work, because it bypasses the progressive coupling and mechanically connects the front shaft to the rear.
On selec-Trac you will be able to select 4 wheel drive as you like.
