inside the lens ?

I recently got an '01 WJ, Laredo. I picked up the "delux" headlight polishing kit at Harbor Freight, took my time, followed the directions, and the lenses looked great....until i turned on the lights !
Now it appears they were clouded on the inside, too .
Has anyone polished the inside of their headlight lenses ? How tough is lens removal, or does the whole assembly have be to be replaced ? I would rather spend another $15 and an hour of my time than have to replace the assembly.

Re: inside the lens ?

In general you would have to remove the headlight and either "bake it" or use a heat gun to separate the lends from the housing to properly clean the inside. You just need to make sure you seal it 100% when putting it back together to make sure it doesn't all weather to infiltrate.

Did mine on my 04', but never trust a quick fix, so did them by wet-sanding, then compound. Came up like new. sand complete with 320 first and make sure any shiny spots are gone. Then work your way up, 500,1000, 1500 or 2000 and then buff with medium compound, followed by scratch/swirl remover or baking soda. You can then spray a coat or 2 of Clearcoat for extra protection, or at very least, a good old coat of wax.
