The 4.7 is a modern engine, so it should easily last at least 150k miles. But that should hold true for any modern engine. I wouldn't let anyone fool you into thinking the 4.7 is as reliable as the 4.0. I've seen plenty of people on here w/ head issues on their 4.7. The 4.0 is simply a tried and true engine that is about as reliable as you can get.

I would say that the 4.7 is as reliable as any other modern engine. If you buy one that has about 70k-80k miles and only plan on keeping it for 2 years, it shouldn't matter what engine you get b/c they will both last.

No yet, first I need to figure out what my 0700 tranny code is. It start shifting funny and won't do overdrive. Pulling the battery resets it for a while but I need to get to a shop to pull the codes.

Re: Is it true?

Jeeps by far, are a solid investment. My '04 GC Columbia EDT Laredo wih 148K and the 4.7 H.O. just consumed a head gasket. Bought it since it was well mainained...but it is a machine. Everything brakes eventually, just have to know if you like it enough to fix it. My '94 ZJ with 242k on it and the venerable 5.2 V-8 was tough. The WJ is even a little better than that. Looks better, also I think.

Re: Is it true?

Awesome to hear guys. I am looking for one in the Denver area, seeing as I will be arriving and living in Greeley around August 6th for school. I'll be going the ATC route. Something I love, aviation. It will be well worth the 2 years. A nice secure job that pays very well.
