My thoughts exactly. I did not want the headaches of the dual-zone climate controls which is what lead me to the Columbia/Rocky Mountain Editions.

I cleaned the wheels today and ordered a new radiator from Rock Auto.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

A bit of an update since last post.

The driver's door 6x9 is toast. I hope to find a stock replacement. Anyone out there got some Infinity units sitting on the shelf unloved and unwanted?

The radiator sprung a pin-hole leak between purchase and the 600 miles I put on it last week. The replacement from Rock Auto will be here tomorrow and I hope to swap it on Friday. C'est la vie!

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

Had the cooling system flushed today and will replace the radiator tomorrow. The Jeep floor matts that I picked up arrived and I installed them earlier this week. I will take some pics of the install as I go with the install. Also ordered a Moog heavy duty steering stabilizer that will be here next week.

I'm guessing it leaks between the metal core and the plastic tank on the side? Mine took about 2k mi. to start leaking, seems to be an eventual thing here. Did you get new hoses and t-stat to go along with it? My t-stat went out about a month after the radiator and at that point I decided I will always do all of it with the radiator because I hate having to drain the cooling system.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

Much to my surprise, it was NOT leaking where your was. It was leaking along the top edge of the core. I will get a few pics of it up later. I did new radiator hoses but did not do the thermostat. It took me 5 hours from start to finish including a trip the local "pay-n-spray" to clean up under the hood. From what I can tell I lost half a quart of ATF to the old radiator and about 1 gallon of antifreeze. Yes I used the proper ATF and coolant for a Jeep...

That coolant is friggin spendy isn't it? I just flushed mine and replaced the hoses while I was in there a few weeks ago and a gallon of coolant was like $17 or something at Napa.

Nice Jeep. I've got one almost just like it except silver and with (allegedly) dealer installed leather interior. The silver dash trim is nice, isn't it?

It is spendy... cheaper than replacing a bad radiator or dealing with an overheating problem. I think it was $13 for the Peek Global coolant at my local Mom-n-Pop Napa.

I found a silver Columbia that I almost bought when I picked up my Ram. I live the silver but the white has grown on my. I love the looks of the red and blue but hate the work it takes to keep them looking nice when I drive on gravel roads. The silver dash accents are sweet.

A few pics of what I found

I have been working on cars since I was 10 years old and this was the most difficult radiator to replace.

Yeah it's not a pleasant project on these things. That radiator failed good! The coolant isn't cheap but at least it's not something you have to do very often. I usually get the 50/50 mix so I don't have to screw around with mixing water plus the extra can easily be used to top off whenever needed. I can get the mix for $10 and the straight for $16 so the cost comes Out about the same. Glad to hear its fixed!

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

We are in the upper 80's here and it is definitely running cooler than before. Glad that is done and feel safer finding out what the HO will do.
