Bump from the dead. I will update the thread in a few. Much done since the last post including:
UC springs, RB4 install and some other things.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

Ok, I have missed many things in this thread:

First thing in the fall of 2013 was the purchase and installation of the JK wheels. I got 5 in excellent condition for $150 and installed the Cooper Discoverer AT3's I had on the factory wheels on them.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

Next item on the list was the RB4 nav unit from a 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10. I had an Alpine unit for a while then went back to the factory unit until it stopped reading CD's. I have one with static in the rt front channel and one that does not read CDs. The price on the RB4 was right at $00.00!

The worst part of the install was running the satellite antenna from the dash to the radio. I fished it thru with an old coat hanger, duct tape, and patience.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

I added UpCountry Springs, new spring isolators, and 10 MM OME spacers to the suspension in December. I think this is the right stance for the WJ. The added bonus is that handling is greatly improved. I still have new front ant rear lower control arms and upper rear a-arm bushings to install to finish this phase.

You can see a difference between the UC on the right and factory 118k mile sag-tastic spring on the left.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

I also got the trans temp and aux oil pressure gauges installed and wired up.

Mounted the trans temp gauge in the little cubbie below the HVAC controls. The sending threaded directly into the PML aluminum trans pan.

This was my max temp last summer pulling a u-haul filled with 1500 lbs of car parts from Omaha to CR.

This is the "T" fitting I used when I replaced the factory sending unit which threaded into the end pointed at the camera. The additional port was plugged until I got the parts to finish the install.

When it came time to install the Autometer sending unit it was too big to thread directly into the "T" I installed so I bought a couple of brass fittings allow for the install. You can see them in place in these pics. The sending unit threaded into the end of these pieces.

You can see the sending unit threaded into the piece in the above picture:

Oil pressure gauge mounted in the modified dash insert and wired up. Cold start up in this pic:

This is the pressure reading after a couple of minutes of running.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

The final addition is not all here yet but should be before the end of the month. I ordered a 3" mandrel bent exhaust with a Magnaflow 12589 27" body muffler from Kolak. It will be installed with the Magnaflow collector I purchased for but never installed on the Ram I had before the WJ.

Here are a few pics of Magnaflow collector.

Two of three items arrived for the exhaust upgrade.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

Almost 2 years... wow

I have busy with life since the last post. Between a daughter who is now 2 and my job (pastor in a small church) time gets away from me. While I have thought long and hard about selling the WJ it is still in the family. I also wanted to report some of the things that I have done since the last post.

Still loving the UC springs and Bilstein shocks - well worth the time and money and a "must have" upgrade for any WJ IMO

Most recently I purchased another set of 255/65R17 Cooper Discoverer AT/3s and had them installed last week. The odometer just rolled 142k miles the other night and if I got it right the first set of AT/3s were installed around 85k miles.

Last December the WJ was involved in an accident were the wife missed a stop sign and t-bone a 2008 Toyota Corolla at about 15 MPH. The accident took out the bumper cover, broke the inner portion of the passenger side headlight, and cracked the grill. The Corolla did not fair as well and was totaled. No one was hurt in the accident.

Last January (2016) I replaced the master cylinder for the second time after the reman piece that was installed in the summer of 2015 went bad.

I also had the Mopar hitch recall done at the local dealer and the replaced the Mopar piece I installed earlier in the thread with the factory style hitch.

Other than swapping in a few different radios (RB4, RBZ, and now back to an older Alpine piece) I have not done anything to it other than regular maintenance and gas. Still loving the 4.7HO and hope to FINALLY get the exhaust upgrade installed.

The other "mod" recently added is a Grayco baby seat that is gray/black and matches the Columbia Edition interior.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Columbia Edition 4.7 HO

After a steady decrease in fuel economy and noticeable drop in power I have discovered the right front caliper is stuck. So far both fronts have been replaced since I've owned it.

Do you grease the caliper sliding pins once in a while? When not, rust and road dirt can make the caliper to stick. Also an internally closed brake hose can cause the caliper to not release.
