Talking 2004 Overland 4x4 - Brilliant Black

After months of searching I finally found the Jeep I've been looking for. I really wanted Graphite Gray Metallic but compromised for Brilliant Black since the car was in such good shape and the price was right. 2004 Overland 4x4. 70,000 miles. I'm planning on getting the SuperChips for Jeep and cat-back exhaust and an intake... any recommendations of the latter 2?

Looks pretty! I do love the rogue chrome rims. Your parking brake looks like it needs a little adjustment though.

Superchips is a good choice, but I'd consider a SCT tune too depending how far you want to go in the future. Intake - K&N FIPK 55 series (77 is metal, which can get heat soaked, I have it but 55 is a better choice). Exhaust - take your pick wouldn't expect much performance gain so go for what sounds the best to you, I do like Magnaflow.

Hope that helps and welcome to the garage!

Take care of those real chrome rogues. Those are ultra rare on an '04. Beautiful Overland! Cat backs come down to what your ears like. They all perform about the same.As far as CAI's K&N is about the easiest to get and will show you dyno numbers. I like mine but there are a ton of choices out there. Don't be tempted by those polished tubes though. They absorb heat and rob you of a few ponies. Stick with plastic.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Overland 4x4

K&N seems to overall be the preferred brand for intakes. For tuning, I have a superchips and like it, its simple, plug it in, tune, and go have fun! Very simple. I usually stick to the 87 octane tune, tried the 91 and it was fun, but the gas got expensive. The SCT tuning sounds great, especially if you want custom tuning. FlyinRyan (a vendor here) can apparently work some crazy voodoo magic with the SCT tuning. For exhaust, I'm looking at either magnaflow or borla, and I've heard good things about gibson too.

I'm running the fantastic plastic K&N intake and swapped out my muffler for a Magnaflow 12586. Do some searches on here for exhaust and you'll get a thousand threads with a thousand different opinions. I like my Magnaflow. It's got a nice deep tone and isn't annoying at all.

Congrats!
I picked up my Graphite grey 2 months ago and I LOVE it!!!

I'll be doing the K&N 55 series and superchips VIVID LINQ tuner (because I have 2 android devices i can/will be using. I'm going to go with Kolak's exhaust when I can afford that. I heard it's great and supporting another member.

Re: Just picked up a 2004 Overland 4x4

Thanks guys.

I believe the K&N is the 57 Series K&N Product Information for 57-1513-1
K&N 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L

I talked to Nick (Kolak) yesterday. Luckily I have an early production 2004 (3/2003) with the main converter. I went with what he recommended: Flowmaster 70 series, Magnaflow highflow converter, 3" tailpipe, and the Magnaflow tip PN: 35113.

Nice find! I considered an Overland but since our property taxes are based on the original sticker I decided on Columbia Edition since it was cheaper when new.

I too will go with Kolak when I do exhaust but choose a Magnaflow in place of the Flowmaster.

I don't know, I still wouldn't go with the metal 77-series over the synthetic 57-series if you going for performance upgrades.

I think you got an intake confused with a muffler.

He is talking about a flowmaster 70 series muffler, not the k&n intake...
