keyless entry

I read that key fobs are programmed to the passenger door module and not to the ecu. I guess my main question is if I found a 99-04 WJ that someone was parting out or one recently scrapped that had working key fobs could I take them and the passenger door module(PDM) and put the module in my jeep and use those fobs. If they're programmed to that PDM would it work? Has anyone tried it? I think I can get the fobs and PDM pretty cheap.

Re: keyless entry

Yes, the key fobs vehicle access codes are programmed into the passenger door module. This module keeps the access codes in its memory even when battery power is removed. I have never tried this myself, but it should be possible to swap the passenger door module with the respective fobs into your jeep.

Re: keyless entry

I'm hoping this will work. If not I'll probably go with an aftermarket system. I wish I knew someone who worked at a dealership that knows for sure. I think I'm gonna try it though.
