Re: Looking at a few 4.0L WJs

Well I decided to hold off on buy a Jeep GC. I looked at several and I wasn't impressed by the ones that were for sale around me. I ended up buying an older 302 V8 Explorer that one of my neighbors last owned. Pretty solid rig; I figure I'll fix it up a bit, and sell it when the time is right. Anything that got me away from that 2005 Ford is what I needed. My next vehicle WILL be a Jeep though. I'm thinking I may ultimately save up for 4 door JK, but who knows, maybe the right WJ will come along.

Appreciate the help,
-Nate

Even though you didn't get it, stick with this site. Maybe it'll give ya a good idea on what ya want or want to do with your Jeep when you get it. A lot of different mods round here too. Good luck in finding the one you want.

Re: Looking at a few 4.0L WJs

Sorry to hear you didn't get a GC but I think you made a wise decision not to get that particular one. Looked nice but WAY overpriced for all the problems. My daily driver is a BMW but I also have a 98 explorer sport thats just an extra car and working on it myself has been fairly easy and have saved probably about $5K slowly bargain hunting for parts. I do come from a Jeep Family though and I can say the current one we have (on #7) is on 04 4.0L Jeep GC at about 125,xxx starting to have problems and we had a 98 the first year the body style came out and it was a headache. I wouldn't rule out jeeps but from all my experience I would say you make a smart decision. BTW your Explorer looks awesome, tasteful choice in mods. Sucks to hear it was such a pain. Hope you stick around and good luck.

Well guys, this tells you how long its been but I finally found the perfect WJ and traded in the Explorer for it. I love it so far. Its a 2004 Laredo with 93k miles, 4.0L, has the original window sticker too, and is a one owner! Still trying to like the color, not too sure on this Maroon color, but it seems to be a solid rig so far! I appreciate all the help fellas!

Re: Looking at a few 4.0L WJs

I'll post all the details up and way more pics. I arrived at the dealership at 10am and left at 6pm. I got them to agree to replace the windshield, as its got a crack, and fix the rear main seal which is leaking quite bad. I got them down about $1000 and it was quite the struggle to do so... I may have overpaid a little bit, but for a ride in nearly perfect condition I cant complain.

Has the typical tear in the seat, from what I've seen around town.

And because I had to....

Hey, in case it bothers you...Wet Okole makes a kick ass seat cover that fits like a glove. I ran them in my TJ and in my XJ and they were awesome.
