Just as a side note, the voltage regulator is not in the alternator, but is a part of the PCM.

Hey - sorry it took me a few weeks to get back on here - It ended up being the PCM. I got one on-line for $169 and it plugged right and worked. The alternator is fine. By the way - the dealer wanted over $500 for a new PCM. Thanks for everything!

Re: low voltage - no power

That is a very good price, was it a refurbished PCM? Maybe you can share the address where you got it from, for others in the future.

Hey mine did the same and we are working with a specialty Jeep shop. He said pcm as well except mine is also throwing a governor code so we are changing the solenoid in the tranny pan too. Glad you came back and said pcm. Made me feel like this wasn't a waste!

Re: low voltage - no power

I got mine at All Computer Resources.com They popped right up on the internet as soon as I punched in pcm 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I checked out about 4-5 sites. This one was listed as a 'plug n play'. You just bolted it on and plugged in the connectors and it was ready to go. Other companies said that you may have to take it to a dealer to get 'flashed'. This one didn't need that. I think it was $169 plus $15 for shipping. They gave me shipping label to return the one we pulled off of it.
