lower spring perch rot

Alright so i installed a budget boost today and the left front lower perch is rusted right through . Ive been reading that this is a common issue. For now i installed the kit and drove it home. Now im in the process of looking for a fix. Is it that imperative to fix it before driving? Do you think the spring can slide off with the condition of the perch the way it is?

Re: lower spring perch rot

The corrosion looks quite bad, but difficult to judge just from the look at the picture if the remaining metal is strong enough to keep the spring in place. Did you feel by hand how strong (or weak) the remaining metal is?

Re: lower spring perch rot

It's fairly thin up top but at the base its not horrible. It is still missing about 2/3rds of the cup though. Stressing myself out over this. Had enough trouble installing the kit with all the damage NY winters (salt) do. This is my dd so while i intend to come up with something to remedy this, my concern is when that time will happen and if it will be okay in the meantime.
