The transfer case shifter only has 4 high, neutral and 4 low. Safe to assume it's full time 4-wheel drive? Or how do you put it in 2-wheel drive?

Re: Maybe a stupid question about 4X4 on my 2000 WJ Quadratrac II

Its called in fact an on demand 4 wheel drive system. The NV247 T-case transferes around 60% of torque to the rear wheels and 40% to the front wheels during normal driving. As soon as there is a speed difference between the front and the rear prop shafts, more torque will be transfered to the front wheels, which can go to 100% to the front wheels, when the rears loose all grip.
For this reason, it is very important to keep the tire wear front to rear as equal as possible, because a wear difference will cause the progressive coupler inside the T-case to apply more torque to the front wheels and cause the coupler to wear out prematurely.
So there is no 2 -wheel drive possibility on the NV247 T-case. Indeed removing the front prop shaft would be the only solution.

Thus why I am 2wd on a quadra drive system. Front axle guts welded solid due to previous owner.

Most probably the progressive coupler in the T-case is gone. Does it work in 4Lo?

Are you sure that the two front drive shafts are the right ones? A too short shaft is not properly inserted into the differential and can start skipping the serrations from the shaft to the differential.

Re: Maybe a stupid question about 4X4 on my 2000 WJ Quadratrac II

They had 2 short shafts from a select trac. I learned that when I went to do front hubs I replaced the shafts also. So when I placed shafts and hubs and tires on I spun one tire and other side spun also. So I installed drive shaft and pulled out of garage with force as front was bouncing across floor.
