Need a quick answer....

Ok, after the dreaded death wobble almost killed my son and I threw times over the last week, I've decided to remove my lift and go for a street look on my wj. I removed the lift today, but didn't remove the lift shocks because I don't have any to replace them yet. My question is, with the factory springs are the lift shocks too long and unsafe? Will the springs come unseated? Will I ever have that much wheel travel to worry about that?

Re: Need a quick answer....

Honestly I'd be more concerned about bottoming a shock out and bending or breaking it.

I would agree with Cheapjeep - Bottoming out is more of a concern. Check Rockauto.com for reasonably priced replacements unless you have the $$ to install Bilstein. They rock. We could try to catch up in O if you want to see them or go for a drive.

Deathwobble is scary stuff.

Re: Need a quick answer....

How tall was the lift and how much longer than OE are the lift shocks? I'd say if you're within 1.5" you're probably fine. Any longer than that, and I'd be concerned about the risk of bottoming one out. Bilstiens are the best! You won't regret them if you end up going that route. A set of those along with some Addco swaybars, and you'll go from death wobble, to feeling like it's on rails.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. The fat bobs garage lift was 2.5" so I'm guessing the shocks are 2.5" longer then stock. I'm probably replace them just to be safe.

I would definitely go that way. How many miles does your WJ have on it?
