New tie rod ends fitted !

Just replaced the 4 tie rod ends on my WJ with moog parts, including a new moog tie rod bar. Put an extra shot of grease on them also on assembly, then off to get the alignment done.
My Jeep is 10 years old with 75000 miles, and I believe it was on the original tie rod ends. (its had no hard off road use) They all had slight wear showing, but couild have lasted a bit longer.

Anyway the new parts really have tightened up the steering. All those "small" amounts of wear on each part show up under load.
Ive had a slight drift to the left on my jeep, and although these parts alone didnt cure that, I do feel a "slight" reduction in the drift.

New shocks next on list !

Re: New tie rod ends fitted !

Just did the same thing. All 4 with Moog Problem Solvers. What a mother of a bear to get the old ones out of the rods! The pickle fork popped 'em right off but I broke a bench vise turning them out of the rods. I sprayed the threads with PB Blaster and scrubbed them out with a toothbrush. Then I greased them liberally and chased the threads back and forth with the new TRE until I got them in deep enough without binding. My rig only has 39000 miles on it but they were all dry and had visible play. Tightened up the steering real nice but it didnt solve the problem I am chasing.

Re: New tie rod ends fitted !

I have considered doing this myself as I think the steering feels a bit sloppy or loose. I know I need to replace the rear upper mount and I am not looking forward to that.
