Possible to separate dashboard lights and cabin lights?

Is it possible/has anyone separated their dashboard lights and cabin lights from being together?

For example, when you drive with your dashboard at full illumination, whenever someone opens a door all the cabins light come on but if you have the dashboard lights at minimum then the cabin lights don't come on when a door is opened?

Has anyone rewired so they can have the cabin lights stay off while running the dashboard lights at full illumination?

Donīt understand your last question. On my jeep you can put instrument lights to full bright with the interior lights off. I use that position during daytime and the external lights on.

Do the interior lights stay off when a door opens?

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to keep your instrument lights at full bright BUT when a door opens the interior lights don't come on.

Re: Possible to separate dashboard lights and cabin lights?

No, as soon as a door is opened, the interior lights will come on in that case.
The switching of the overhead lights is controlled by the BCM. Do you want to permanently disable the interior lights or you want to have the option that they come on with the doors open?
For permanently disabling you would have to disconnect wire 16 and 24 from connector C1 on the BCM. You can then still use the map light function of the overhead lights.

Re: Possible to separate dashboard lights and cabin lights?

What about a light turning on with the same door being opened and not all of them? Is that also possible??

Re: Possible to separate dashboard lights and cabin lights?

Nothing is impossible, but i think it will not be a simple mod.
The BCM gets a signal from all the door switches and for either door opened, he will send an output to all interior lights. So i don't know how to modify it so that it works for the respective door only.
