Possible to set mileage in replacement instrument cluster to ACTUAL mileage?
Is it possible to 'set' the mileage on a replacement instrument cluster panel to the ACTUAL mileage on my Jeep? I don't know, but I've read in Jeep forums that the mileage is stored here, there, & everywhere. I want to know IF there is a way to set it to my actual mileage, which is approx. 5K more than what the replacement shows.
I live in PA., & saw on the PA. DMV that on vehicles 10yrs & older are EXEMPT from "Disclosure Requirements", but think I will run into questionable 'red-tape' when service is done on my vehicle due to the mileage being UNDER the reading that may have been 'recorded' from past services.
What should/do I do about this & HOW do I get it to the correct/actual mileage MYSELF w/out the need to go through a Dealership to charge me for something that is NOT even 'relevant' in my vehicle since it is the 10yrs. old, but still want it to be 'legal' in any case.
If I can't get it to the actual mileage myself, I was thinking of just keeping a piece of paper stating the odometer reading of the 'old' cluster, the reading of the 'new' cluster, along with the date of swap.
I Appreciate any assistance you can give me, Thank You in advance.
Someday-and that day may never come, I'll call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, accept this justice as a gift.
