R.I.P. to my WJ

Im up in PA, was on my way from FL to visit friends and family, and my engine blew on I-80, bout 50 miles East of Dubois. Luckily I was close to that rest stop and was able to coast into a parkin spot. Shes beyond done, BUT Ill still keep on bein a part of this awesome community as always.

She died proud, getting you to a rest stop instead of leaving you in the middle of the road.

Re: R.I.P. to my WJ

So what happened? Did it throw a rod? Other engine is no option?

Re: R.I.P. to my WJ

My 2002 4.7 let go 30 miles from home but it hung on till was back at house, wasn't pretty but got us home. I checked cylinder pressure and #1 was 0. I think it dropped a valve no warning. I had to get a car quick, but now am seeking a GC and hope to have one very very soon. Just don't feel right without my Jeep.

Re: R.I.P. to my WJ

sorry to hear. My 99 4.7 Laredo QD that I sold to my brother back in 09 was finally laid to rest last week as well.

Re: R.I.P. to my WJ

My 02 Laredo 4.7 had 230k, and was running like a top. No oil leaks nothing wrong with drivetrain or engine. I did have the issues with the wiring in the doors. I am still looking for a replacement, I just felt comfortable in the GC. I may not be able to find a WJ but maybe a WK.

Re: R.I.P. to my WJ

Has about 153,000 miles on her, blew 2 rods clean out the oil pan, possibly a couple more that didn't go completely through. Was able to drive it just enough to get it on a trailer. My buddies talked me into keepin it and trying to resurrect it (next to no rust, Southern Jeep). So I'm either gonna find another engine or get a new engine.
