Re: removed the pre cats

So the CEL didn't come back on? I've heard from a few people that once they removed the pre cats they had a CEL.

Re: removed the pre cats

I had gutted precats at one point, with no CEL. Ran great, decided to put cats on because with my exhaust setup the interior noise was out of control.

Keep in mind (especially the fella from NJ) that you need to at least appear to have functioning cats to pass emissions/inspection. so if you remove them altogether, you WILL fail, no ifs ands or buts.

Re: removed the pre cats

You WILL loose low end power...i lost quite a bit of low end power removing all the cats on my wj 4.7... but gained alittle high end power.. but the jeep is better with low end, thats what they are known for.... and my CEL kept coming on without the converters.... SO i reinstalled some High flow pre cats and the larger cat and got all my low end back.. if you want more get up gear it...i ended up with 4.56 gears and it gets up and goes WAY better.. esp. with 33"s

Re-tuning is required when you make changes like that.
