Repair or New Engine?

Trying to find decent used cars at a good price is such a pain! I'm leaning toward either having the cracked piston repair or getting a whole new engine.

So... what do you recommend?

Where do you find good engines for the WJ? Could it get a V8 instead of the i6?

i6 is cheaper, normally bullet proof.

A V8 swap isn't for those trying to save $ cheaper to buy a whole WJ for the cost of a v8 swap.

new motor 2k ish then 700-1000 in labor junkyard motor mybe 200-400 dollars plus labor

Re: Repair or New Engine?

If the cylinder wall is not damaged, you could just possibly replace the piston and rings with new rod bearing.

Re: Repair or New Engine?

I blew my engine and wasn't able to find a decent replacement or could afford to get a new engine at the time. i6 V8 swap is a lot of money spent. If no or very little damage, possible to replace parts.
