Roof Rail bolt holes

Hey guys, I'm new here and i really like this forum already! So today I removed my roof rack on my wj. I've seen many people do this the their jeeps and I think it looks great! I noticed that the bolt holes went down further than i though. I don't want water to get down there so what do you guys use to cover up the holes?

Thanks!

Re: Roof Rail bolt holes

I agree they look awesome without the rack!

I just have mine filled up with caulking. Did that about a year ago, and they have held up fantastic for being such a quick fix. I intend to do something more permanent/attractive eventually, just haven't gotten there yet.

Re: Roof Rail bolt holes

If the holes are threaded, how about a bolt with a very shallow head. Maybe even painted to match the paint.

Re: Roof Rail bolt holes

I tried a low profile "pan" head torx bolt in mine, painted to match, and still didn't really care for how much they stuck out. I decided to go with a little silicone in the hole and around the top of the nutsert (after a good cleaning) and then installed some black plastic push-in fasteners like shown in this link: roof rack delete

Good luck! Makes for a much cleaner look in my opinion and makes your Jeep appear lowered a bit.
