Re: Shift kit

Honestly I've had mine for a few years now and honestly I'd have to say there are no negatives that I know of. If i recall I had a few harsh shifts after the install on the first drive and I think 01Grand did too. Just put a few miles on it on the shakedown cruise and the computer will lean to deal with the new environment and things will settle in nicely.

Exactly what Dave said. let it work in for a few days and you're golden. I've only had it in for a few months but no negatives so far.

I have 145k on mine. Just drop the transmission pan and valve body, most of the parts go on the valve body. There is also a ring that goes on the pump if you happen to have the whole transmission out of the truck but it isn't necessary with the rest of the kit. Then solder a resistor onto the line pressure sensor wire. I think the 8 qts of ATF I needed to refill it ended up more expensive than the kit! I also had to replace the solenoid pack so it was a no brainer for me to put it in while I had it apart for that.

Re: Shift kit

Mae sure you use the softer springs. Have a 99 with the transgo and the guy before me put it in to cover up third gear being shredded. The thing kicks like hell, its not pleasant at all, do yourself a favor use the resistor.

Re: Shift kit

Dave and Aaron made me do it....................... just bought a Transgo reprogramming shift kit of e-bay. Finally spending some money on a mod instead of just dropping all my money into repairs.

What i understand is that with the resistor, the line pressure will rise 10-15 PSI, causing a quicker shift and probably make it kick harder, but also will increase the holding force of the clutches, so getting less slip..............
