Steering stabilizer- original or upgraded?

Hey guys! So not too long ago I installed a 2" BB lift on my WJ. Recently I have been experiencing really bad death wobble and figured I might want to try changing out my steering stabilizer. So my real question is- would it be safe to go ahead and just get a Orem replacement? Or should I go ahead and get an upgraded one just in case? Any information and tips would be great! Thanks in advance!

Re: Steering stabilizer- original or upgraded?

Having the death wobble means that there is play in one or more of the steering/suspension components. Just changing the steering stabilizer will only reduce the sympthoms, but not cure the cause.
So check all the steering rod ends, the ball joints and the track bar bushings for play. I experienced the death wobble twice myself and found play on one of the steering rod ends. Having the death wobble can/will cause very rapid wear on the other steering/suspension components, just aumenting it.
Have a look at my previous post regarding the death wobble, where JGC2000Laredo send me some very good youtube videos on how to discover where the problem is: Death wobble

Re: Steering stabilizer- original or upgraded?

Yea I hopped up ended there last night to look at everything, and I discovered that both outer tie rods are shot. I will probably change those out and while I'm there do the steering stabilizer as well. Hopefully that'll solve it all because it's not too fun jumping on the freeway every day for work and having to shake way down the road! Thank you for the quick reply!
