Re: sway or wandering?

Then the adjustables you found are a great deal! I looked all over and didnt see those for some reason. I wasn't really looking for adjustables though. You can put them on now and adjust if and when you lift. I think you said you were going to lift it. Just be aware that if you put anything larger than a 30" 9.50 tire that you will probably rub at full lock without less backspace or adding spacers. Wait....you may have said you were adding spacers?

Re: sway or wandering?

I have OME 10 MM Spring spacers on it now for a bit of lift. My current tires are 255/65r17's so I am not worried about rubbing as it is not a problem now. The factory springs are saggy and soft and need replaced hence the move to UC springs. Thanks for the 2nd opinion on the adjustable pieces. I thought they looked good and they received a positive review on another Jeep forum. Now to get the plan together and figure out the budget.

Re: sway or wandering?

Your stock arms have a bend in them. The adjustables don't have a bend. Double check the clearance at full lock with the adjustables. They are going to be close but you may get away with it. I have the exact same tires and size that you do and they are brand new. I have some feathering of the front tires on the outter edge. Hopefully after the alignment and the LCA's it will even out. They were noticeable after a couple hundred miles pre alignment and LCA's. Was reminding me of my younger days when I had BFG AT T/A's and could literally see them wearing out daily. I may rotate them right away to see if the changes have helped in that arena.

Re: sway or wandering?

Thanks for that reminder. I will take a look myself and make note of it.

Re: sway or wandering?

I had my wife hold the wheel tight to lock while engine was running and I looked at my stock LCA's before I removed them. The edge of my tires (EXACT same brand and size as yours) was about a half inch from touching. You are going to be close but the tubing on the ones you are looking at seem to be a smaller diameter that the ones I bought, so you may still get away with it. The Moabs have a quarter inch less backspace than the stock Silverblades. That may get you over the hump.

Re: sway or wandering?

I forgot about the potential rub on the control arms. Thanks again.

And I still love the looks of your WJ!

Re: sway or wandering?

Believe it or not, I don't use anything other than Blue Coral car wash on the cladding. It really looks like that. No Armor All....nothing. Too bad I slid on the ice in my driveway and cracked the rear bumper cladding on the corner of my garage this past winter. Just a small crack...LOL.

Turn your wheels to full lock and see where they are on the stock arms. Then imagine they are straight and see if you think it will be safe. It is going to be very close. I hope you are to the good.

Re: sway or wandering?

Hey Travis, just curious...

What PSI do you run in your tires since we have the exact same ones? I have been experimenting with pressures and trying to find the ideal one. If I air it down to get good contact they seem flat too me. Been driving me bats.

Re: sway or wandering?

IIRC I have them at 36 per dad's suggestion. He is a Cooper dealer. What have you been using?

Re: sway or wandering?

I was running them at 38 because the guy that mounted them put them at that. It seemed too hard so I tried 33 and then 30. At 30 they ride smoother and have good contact per chalk test but they feel sloppy and look a little bulgy for my taste. I was just curious. I guess the new springs are going to have a harsh ride and that is all there is to it. I can't run around with flat looking tires even if the chalk test says that is what it should be.

Re: sway or wandering?

Part of the reason I am going UC will be to maintain a decent ride. I am sure tire pressure will matter more when I get rid of the slop in the control arms.

Re: sway or wandering?

Just sent the seller of those arms asking if I could expect rubbing. Will see what the response is. Attached is a pic of the upper and lower arms together.
