Tranny Auxilary Cooler

Has anyone added a tranny auxilary cooler in place of the cooler in the stock radiator? My radiator is leaking a little tranny fluid and it's coming from the fitting to the tank. Rather than replace the radiator with another that's also likely to leak, I was thinking of pulling the lines and just using an auxilary cooler. Has anyone ever done that or have any reasons it wouldn't work? It seems like one would get more cooling from the auxilary cooler than the stock cooler (since the auxilary would have a larger surface area).

Re: Tranny Auxilary Cooler

I have heard of it being done before, but haven't done it myself. It all depends on where you want to route it to, and how large of a surface area is on the aux cooler. Check out what member JRK5892 did here: No more leaky trans cooler, aftermarket installd

That's pretty much exactly what I was looking to do. Thanks for the link.

I think I'm going to have to fabricate some mounting brackets because I don't like mounting them to the radiator like I've seen. But it looks like there's really convenient mounting locations around the radiator.
