Transponder chip for WJ series

Hello all,

I am trying to find out what chip is used in the WJ series Jeep key.
My vehicle is a 2004 Grand Cherokee.
The reason I need to know is that I am ordering a spare key off Ebay, but they list two different chip models (numbers) so wanted to make sure I am getting the right one.

Thanks for any assistance.
p.s If any moderators feel that this is not the right section, please feel free to move it.

Re: Transponder chip for WJ series

Welcome to the garage.
Never seen anything about which type of chip is in there. Are you looking for an universal key? Which types you have to choose from?

Hi,

I may have narrowed it down to the Texas chipset 4D 64.
I think this is right but if anyone has a different view, please let me know.

Cheers

100% Texas Crypto 4D64 ( JEEP ? TRANSPONDER CHIP CATALOG )
but your original key you can copy only on TPX2 JMA chip
