OK, so another day, another "mod". I blame this one entirely on Dave. Hell, he's blamed ish on me before, so I'm just returning the favor.

My Jeep no longer needs to be worried about getting anything pregnant. It's been snipped. I did, however install a switch so I can only activate "the snip" when I want to. Why hasn't medical technology been able to do this with men's junk? I'd love to be able to keep the soldiers at camp while still firing off my weapon of mass destruction, you know? Anyhow...back to the subject at hand. There's a hole where I installed my switch. I just needed to widen it. I snipped the yellow and green wire, stripped the ends, and ran leads from each end, into the driver's side dash, and terminated the ends, plugging them into a toggle. Switch up...everything is normal. Switch down....unleash the crackon. I laid into it twice with the switch up and it was the same as it's always been. I laid into it again with the switch down, and the shifts were SUPER snappy and quick. Very impressive little mod, and it was FREE! I had a toggle and a couple of feet of wire laying around. On ramps are going to be even more fun now. Thanks Dave...now my bitch has a switch...

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Why would you ever want to turn the best free mod ever off? Ditch the switch...puss. I'm putting my foot down. After this cf thing no more bling bling mods. You have hit rock bottom and need an intervention when you start bolting cabinet handles to the INSIDE of your rear cupholders Your next mods WILL BE:
1.Transgo That little snip you've been so afraid of for so long is only a teaser my friend. This goes for you too Aaroneous !
2.Tuner I'm starting to lean Ryan's way on this. He's on to something with this fuel delay stuff. I just have to find a way to break it to Wifey that I'm gonna spend ANOTHER boatload of cash on ANOTHER tuner Any suggestions or bold face lies in this department would be appreciated.
3.Take those badges you hated on your tailgate OFF your fan shroud and put a JG sticker under there!
Now hit the ground running son or I will sneak my bigger pistol across the border and shoot holes in your reps

Wow...I have not laughed that hard in awhile....hahahahhhahah. Dude, I don't know how many times I have to say it, but CF, certain stickers, and switches are PROVEN HP adders. Ever looked at a stock car or a real purpose-built racer? Stickers and switches all over those mfkrs.

A tuner is on the list...and I'm SERIOUSLY considering the trans-go kit. I'm guessing the kit does what the snip does but all levels of accelertion and not only when you have it pegged? What tuner are you looking at now?

Oh, and if you shoot holes in the reps, I'll be forced to fill the holes, and then have them dipped and hydrograpic'd in carbon fiber...and I know you don't approve of that...ahahhahah.

One of these days you'll learn...you'll be crawling back..."Oh, Tony, you were right...I wrapped my rear step pad and I never should have wasted time with all those dirty trannies and HO's....

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

FWIW, I had 80k+ and LOTS of track passes and WOT shifts on the stock trans + snip (plus 50k non-snipped miles). I suspect towards the end it was starting to not bang shifts as hard at WOT, was likely some clutch slippage. The current owner is still driving it. Worked fine for me, no need for the switch.

Faster, crisper shifts at 80% throttle. So when you mash the gas pedal, and it goes to shift from one gear to the next, there is significantly less lag.

Oh, you guys are hilarious! Yes Dave, the Transgo is on my list, I'm just working up the courage to tear into my transmission. Also thinking I might install a new shift solenoid at the same time, just to play it safe.

About time you got snipped Tony! I agree with Dave though, there's no need for a switch. If you don't want it to act that way, don't mash down the accelerator!

And Amelie, sorry, but the snip is only for 4.7 engines with the 45rfe transmission.

It's cool. I don't plan on doing anything like that anyways as I don't intend to have a WJ forever as mileage wise it's pretty far up there and I would consider it a waste if something were to happen.

You need a SCT to use Ryan's tunes.Tony the snip actually does nothing to improve shifts in the trans itself. It just stops the TCM from asking the PCM to retard engine timing during the WOT shift(I have a thing for 3 capital letters strung together)Now where Transgo comes in is it raises line pressure causing the solenoids to react faster and also uses stiffer springs and a hd accumulator cover to really really reduce overlap. Overlap is actually being in 2 gears at once during a shift and is what makes modern day automatics shift like butter and keeps soccer mom Jeeper happy.Overlap has it's price though,in heat, friction and wear and is why these newer transmissions just don't hold up like the old ones. The 545 is light years ahead of the 42 & 46re though. Anyways imagine what a good shifting tranny and the snip would feel like together cupholder king

In my defense it was getting a little quiet around here Valve body is no big deal buddy. Only thing I would suggest in looking back is one of those old impact drivers that you hit with a hammer or at least a high quality hex shaft phillips screw driver. Those accumulator plate screws were tight bitches. I was gonna upload the destructions but the last page got corrupted somehow. You can download them from Transgo's site though. Read em over. Good pics too. Trust me bro I am THE even a cave man could do it guy
