I replaced my steering gear box last night. Holy sh** was that ridiculous and i will never do that again! HAHA I'm pretty mechanically inclined but next time I'm going to just take it somewhere and pay the $300 to have them do it.

What was so bad about it? The only one I've ever done was on my old TJ, and that was pretty simple to do.

For one, i had to remove the front bumper, skid plate, unbolt half the front sway bar, windshield washer bottle, and intake box just to get it out. It was stuck on the pitman arm and wouldn't come off. I broke 3 different 3 jaw pullers trying to get it off before i decided to go buy the pitman arm puller. I heated it up to the point it was almost smoking and it still wouldn't break loose.

Yeah, that sounds like a blast...when it comes to crappy ass projects like that, I've found that the yellow bottle torch (MAP) is the way to go. I hate torching stuff, but sometimes you just don't have a choice. Glad you got it knocked out though. Now you can put that $300 towards some damn carbon fiber...heheheh

Hmm...not sure if I should spring for an overland or not instead...

Seller is asking $6500 for the Columbia with the 4.7HO with 116,000 miles and one owner. Found an overland for the same price but with 150,000 miles and four owners.

Thinking I might want to sell my Jeep by myself, the trade in would probably only give me like 4500 if that.

Doesn't sound like you'd be "springing" anymore green anyway. The real question is if the 4 owners is really that big of a deal to you. Were they all actual owners or were some of those owners actually dealers?

Personally, I'd thoroghly inspect them both, and if all is good, I'd go with the Overland. That's just me though. Chances are you're getting a better radio, you're getting leather which you aren't in the Columbia, and you're getting some other little goodies like the rocker guards and probably some other bells and whistles. Rain sensing wipers, up country suspension, and fewer miles.

If you've got time to sell on your own, you'll probably do a lot better than what a dealer can do for you. I've had very good luck selling my last 3 vehicles on my own. All 3 sold in under 2 months. A TJ, and XJ, and a WK
