I was just wondering what did to make your rims that flat black. Did you use plastidip, vinyl or something else? I have a WJ the same color so I was wondering how that look would turn out and it looks like yours came out well so I may go through with trying it. I was thinking of doing the rims, door handles, grill, badges and gas cap in a flat black plastidip along with some Halo's in the front. Is that the way to go and do you have any pointers?

Everyone else feel free to chime in here because I'm new to all of this lol

Also does anyone know the best way to install an AUX port on a 2001 Jeep WJ with a stock radio? Do I need a whole new radio or can I just integrate an AUX kit. I saw some mentions online but many other Jeep owners had a radio with a "Mode" button which from what I read seemed to be important for the kit install. That's why I'm wondering if I need a new radio.

Welcome to JeepGarage!

My rims and grill are just PD black. I de-badged everything but I did spray the badges to see what it looked like. To me it didn't look good. Black emblems on green just didn't tickle my fancy but I would try it and see for yourself!

For your handles I'd recommend a bed-liner personally or Raptor Linear. If not, you can always go with black spray paint. The PD won't hold up very well due to:
-the surface being rough
-the constant pulling and twisting when pulling on the handle.

The gas-cap is your call. Im waiting on a custom gas cap (shhh that's a secret lol)

Halos and HIDs my friend! That's a must.

For your AUX question someone just did exactly what you asked not too long ago. Look in the audio section of WJ and run a search. When I get home I'll dig up the thread if you haven't found it yet.

Thanks for your help. I found a thread titled Easy aux in for WJ factory stereo
Where the aux line ran through the cassette player. This won't work in my situation however. My cassette player no longer works, which is actually why I need the AUX port now. I have one of those cassette tapes that act as an aux plug in directly into an iPod/Smart phone etc but my actual player just stopped working a few months ago. Basically if I put a tape in the player makes a clicking noise then turns on the AM/FM radio.

Are there any other solutions solution or am I looking at needing a new radio set?

Yes! I did! I kept the stock radio along with all my goodies like steering wheel control and 10 disk changer.
I used a few kits and put them together to get the end result i wanted.

JEEP auxiliary audio input adapter iPod iPhone mp3 Jeep Grand Cherokee Liberty Wrangler
email this guy and tell him what you have and what you want to achieve. He hooked me up so i did not lose any of my comforts, and i can also add up to 3 addtional aux inputs if I decided to hook up Sirius or DVD or something ridiculous like that.

Thanks for your help. I contacted them and will hopefully have a solution soon.

Ok, my other question is on "Head Lights"
What are the recommended brands for Halo lights and do any come with both LED and HID lights preinstalled or do I need to order an HID kit separately and do a self install, open the casing etc?

I saw some vids online and it seems that some LED Halos say HID compatible but the housing ends up not being long enough. I want to make sure that I don't run into the same issue.

Look up Gen 3/Gen 4 CCFL halo headlights" for your jeep. There's CCFL and Halos. The CCFL are brighter but a little bit more expensive.

For HIDs the best ones are a vendor: Xenon Depot. They're expensive but the best. I got mine from DDM and have had no complainants or issues (except for user error).

If you want pre-installed your gonna have to check a website. I believe dashzracing.com sells headlights and HIDs together.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Check out Halo Projector Headlights, Euro Headlights, Altezza Tail Lights, LED Tail Lights, Turbo Downpipe, Wheel Spacers - ProTuningLab.com You can order your headlights with regular or CCFL halos (I went with CCFL) and you can choose what ever H.I.D. you want pre-installed ranging from 4300K up to 12000K (I went with 8000K) Just a suggestion since there are many aftermarket headlight companies out there.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Next up for me are a bunch of maintenance items. New plugs, drain and refill the T-case, a transmission service, and a new PCV valve...maybe another sticker for the fan shroud just for good measure. Oh, and a new set of black chrome lugs. My current ones are getting demoted to winter wheel service.

Headed to pick up JK wheels! Got them at a steal... $200 for 5, plus tires. I have been hunting for a cheap set since I bought the Jeep 8 months ago.
