Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Driveshaft came out of the Jeep last night, the u joint on the tcase end seems fine but the diff end is definitely shot. New joints are out for delivery today along with rear axle seals/bearings for when I get around to that project.

Were the u joints easy to get out? Mine were stuck in there pretty bad. Had to break out the 5lb. sledge to knock them out.

I'm actually going to Detroit today! Won't have the time to take a look, but good luck on the sale anyways.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Bushwhacker cut out flares, KOR stealth bumpers. PIAA driving and backup lights. I had serious issues with the bumpers. Bumpers built by Protofab. Horrible experience.

Kevin with KOR was extremely helpful and it was only with his advice that my installer got them on and lined up correctly , Mike with Protofab offered little help, essentially said to figure it out when neither front nor rear initially fit. The installation instructions were a joke. The bumpers were not cheap but were delivered by Protofab almost a month late!

I would strongly recommend that if you are considering doing business with Mike Wiley of Protofab you rethink it. Incompetent, criminal lack of customer service, he still has not responded to email !, and a poor business man to boot. Bumpers were certainly not as advertised. they did not fit, no rear jack holes, front d-ring holes undersized, finish was pathetic.

Final result does look formidable. 4" BDS, 33" pro comps on black pro comp rims, cargo rack with tire and jack all work well with the flares and installed (finally) bumpers.

2003 WJ still moves out pretty good, programmed, K and N, Flowmaster, considering regearing next but don't get much rocky stuff on East Coast.

Pulled the shaft, then took it to work and had the shop guys help me with the hydraulic press. They came out nice and easy that way

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Replaced spark plugs today...I think next time I'm just going to cut a hole inside the glove box to make getting to that last one a little easier.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

It's not the end of the world, but it's definitely a b1tch compared to the other 7. Passenger's side rear...you definitely need a nice collection of extensions and a universal. Then the dipstick tube needs to get unbolted...and for me a big bundle of wires had to be unbolted from a stud on the top of the engine. I only cursed 3-4 times.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

I agree, you do need a good selection of extensions and swivels lol. My 69 CJ5 with the Buick V6 is surprisingly hard to get the left bank rear spark plug out, my 2 1/2' extension comes in handy then. Yes I said 2 1/2 feet! HAHA
