Your ass will really tighten up when you can take a curve at speed and feel like you're on rails...pucker up! You'll be glad you did it for sure...

Yep...all LED all the time. VLED's has some very bright, very high quality bulbs. I think mine have some ridiculous amount, like 90 individual LEDs per bulb. They really light it up when I put it in reverse.

Ok guys. Officially decided I'm sticking with the 4.0-I can pretty easily drive it dangerously enough, so I figure stepping up to the 4.7 would be kind of reckless on my part...

Now. I wanna make this jeep MINE. Need to personalize it. First of all, need to do any preventive repairs and installs. What does everyone replace on their jeeps around 100,000 miles? Secondly, need to figure out the lifter tick. Hopefully I can remedy that myself, even if that means learning how to replace the lifters. Thirdly, I'd like to make the jeep better in the corners. Recently, I've noticed my jeep understeers a lot(especially coming from my dads E90 3-series). Almost like the understeer is progressively getting worse...fishy. Any possible solution to that? Once I get some money, definitely going bilstein hds, hopefully addco sway bars, and pretty much re doing the whole suspension system. This is on a basis of around two years, so I've got time.

Another idea of mine is to swap out wheels and tires. MAYBE wider and larger diameter rims(thinking 18 by 8 or 18 by 9), and lower profile tires. This Jeep will not be venturing offroad but...I drive in the snow. Not sure whether it would be worth it to do dedicated snow wheels and tires or not...

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

If you're looking to improve the cornering and handling, you're on the right track with the HD's and the swaybars. That makes a HUGE difference. I run winter tires on stock wheels and summer tires on SRT replica wheels. I feel a difference in handling on the larger diameter wheel too.

As for what to do at 100k, as long as all your services are caught up on, I can't think of much. Mine's about to hit 100k. I'm at like 99300 or something like that. Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. I just recently did tie rod ends and new swaybar links. Check anything rubber...bushings, belts, hoses...

Lastly, I had a 4.0L Wrangler and an XJ. Both ticked. The 4.0L just had a tendancy to sound a little like a diesel sometimes. Both were troopers and neither had issues. Mine was barely noticeable upon startup, then would quickly disappear in both 4.0's.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Since my jeep is lowered and I'm more of a street performance guy. I've been looking at KYB gasajust performance. Has anyone used these shocks? I can get a full set for $173 shipped to my door. Figured that was a pretty good deal.

As Tony and others have said, the addco swaybars and bilstein shocks will forever change the way your jeep handles. Check your suspension bushings too, although unless you are really hard on them I've found only the rear upper control arm has problems. As for the tick, you may be able to fix it but it seems to come back. My old 4.0 did that on startup from 160 to 210k. Just keep up on regular maintenance and that engine should last forever. Check on fluids in the diffs and transfer case too. Also, change transmission fluid and filters as recommended, I didn't on my old Jeep and that's what did it in.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Here are my humble measures done within last 7 months and what i am planning near term to my 2000 limited ....to this great thread....

Done stuff:
1. addco rear sway bar with grease fittings - done by me
2. new front calipers, rear driver caliper, new front pads and rotors - done by dealer$
3. metal plates welded into lower rocker and new cross member box fabricated and welded in and por-15 applied - done by awesome local mechanic
4. new monroe sensa trac rear shocks - done by me
5. new front drive shaft - done by me
6. transfer case lube - done by a different dealer than the first - wanted to see how customer oriented they are - much confusion about picking up the car ensued, not good
7. engine oil (full synthetic) and new plugs and filters - done by me
8. transmission oil and filter - done by me
9. install cabin air filter - done by me
10. mud flaps installed - done by me
11. Class III trailer hitch - Uhaul

To-Do's near term:
1. Install new ac compressor, accumulator, orifice line, condensor, and flush discharge and evaporator - me
2. ac evac and ac charge - local shop
3. apply caliper paint - me
4. install new or used fuel tank skid plate - me
5. If i can find a rear bumper - would like to install this

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

got alignment done today. seemed to really tighten things up. nice and strait. Bilsteins will be installed this week, and im thinking addco rsb, then im done with suspension. Need to slow down on the jeep for a month or so though, because 4th of July is coming, and to my family, the 4th is insane. ha
