Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Fully detailed pics. Unfortunately a drive on the dry gravel was followed by rain then a drive on wet gravel.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Lookin' good Trav! I too am surrounded by dirt roads so when I really clean it up it sits in the garage for days so all that hard work isn't for nothing.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Finally had time to install new axle seals, bearings, and brakes on the rear end. I apologize for the lack of pictures but I left my phone in the house. The work went pretty easy, I think it took more effort to knock off the old brake rotors than it did to slide out the axles, no slide hammer needed. With my Dads help we carefully cut off the old bearings and retainers and then carefully hammered down the new ones. I went with R1 d/s rotors and centric ceramic pads to match the front. My squeak is gone from the rear! and the braking performance is better than ever.

Also had to replace the rear upper ball joint, I did manage to get a picture of the junk Omix-Ada joint that only lasted a little over a year. The thing tracks much better again! Finally I can enjoy driving the jeep again!

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

That's just so unacceptable! A year? It's not even the price of the part it's the b.s. of installing it. Man I can't wait to get that crap off of mine and throw it in the dumpster. Sorry bro!

Forgot to mention, on my weekend trip, among all my other idle and transmission issues. I also got a flat on my brand new rubber!! Picked up a chunk of metal through the edge somehow. Not directly through the tread. But also in the time it took for me to realize what happened and slow down from 120kph, it had worn away the inner lining of the sidewall. So it's garbage! Currently trying to work with 1010tires.com to get me a new one!
