I thought a thread like this might be fun here...I know I've seen them in other forums (before I discovered the greatest forum of them all).
Here, I'll start...on my short list are:
New upper and lower radiator hoses and stainless clamps. Jeep's got about 85k on it. A new set of hoses is probably not a bad idea considering summer is almost here and the cost to do this is like $20.
Good luck man! I'm plasti dippin the wheels this week and getting tinted as well. Still have to do the wipenew review but it's been raining every 2-4 days for the past couple weeks here.
Well, it's in the shop today. I went in for ball joints, and the ball joints are actually fine! It's the friggin end links I replaced. Apparently Mevotech from Summit Racing is crap, so I'll be returning those and installing some Moogs maybe over the weekend if it's not 11 friggin degrees out. So being that I don't need to pay for ball joints, it's in there getting the manifold bolt removed and replaced. It's an independant shop that I've used before...and they seem to believe they will be able to get it out without major surgery. Fingers crossed...
Interesting, I haven't had a problem with my mevotechs on the rear bar, my stockers were ok up front. I've liked everything I've ever bought from Moog, rock auto sells them at a good price and you can find a 5% off code just by google searching "rock auto discount"
Please kindly keep your mouth shut. Haha just kidding, although I like snow I'm not a fan of cold. Which is why the WJ will be getting a new thermostat before this weekend's trip. Also gonna try and blow out the heater core if I can, I'm getting luke warm air at best and the wife won't be happy with that for a 4 hour drive. Hopefully this is the problem, I already checked last years blend door replacement and all is well there.
Jeep's been in surgery since 8am...just came out. Doctor says he's doing fine and is fully recovered. Gasket and bolts replaced on driver's side. Thank you everyone for your prayers and all the beautiful flowers you sent. I'll be reunited at 5:30.
Tonight everyone...go home and hug your Jeep, okay?
Good to hear surgery went well! My wife gets jealous when I show affection to my jeep though so I will have to buy her something shiny to compensate.
I know, I'm not thrilled about it but I'm getting to the point where something needs to be done. Worst case scenario is we have to take the PT, although I don't know if it can handle all the luggage we "need" for the weekend.
The temp is down some from normal, I haven't tried hooking up my scan tool yet to get a more exact number.
Well hopefully then it's just the stat. As far as the PT goes that is turning out to be a regrettable decision for us. I had high hopes for that thing as a tricked out street cruiser but it has too many issues. Gets hot in the summer with the air on, doesn't go in the snow, about every suspension bushing is starting to wear out, extremely hard to work on,etc, etc.Too bad because it is a fun car too drive and I absolutely love the interior.Except for those dash mounted window switches I always look like a tard trying to find.So I guess it's time for it to go.
Yay! I'm not the only person that has trouble with those damn window switches.:slapfight: I always go to the door first only to realize they didnt put anything there but a handle. The interior isn't bad for its size but I like the extra room in the Jeep. Ours gets hot in the summer too, although thats because I haven't fixed whatever leaks refrigerant in the AC yet... And yes, they are a right old b!tch to work on sometimes. Ours has been decent in the snow, maybe I've got some magic tires on it.
Um...nevermind on the Libby....the older ones have the window switches in the middle too. Doesn't make sense. At least the wife's 09 has them in the door where they belong.
They do look like mini-commanders. I personally like it better than the older Libby with the bug-eyes, but I'm not driving it, so it really doesn't matter. All I know is that the bro-in-law's wife, and my mother-in-law's neighbor both have one and they absolutely love them. Reliable little things. The only issues they've had (and they bought these used and are both nearing 90k) was a rear drum brake backing plate that busted loose because a bolt head snapped causing an annoying rubbing noise against the drum (had to pull axle to replace plate), and a rear window latch issue. No major mechanicals at all.
I almost forgot I had ordered these! Had to open the box to figure out what they were. It's so nice to have the new window belt on, makes the truck look decent from up close again. The old ones were a little hard to remove I think mainly because they pulled apart from being so rotten. I quick washed the area down and rubbed a little wax on to keep the paint fresh underneath but it looked good anyway. Yes Tony, I know the rest of the truck is filthy, she will get a bath later today. :slapfight:
Also, the new thermostat went in last night. Temps are still good according to my scan tool (just above 200 F) but I'm still not getting very warm air. I'm starting to wonder if there is either an external blockage on the heater core or crud internally. After draining, refilling, and bleeding all the air out I could I get a gurgling sound from behind the dash for the first minute or so after starting up this morning. I',m beginning to think there might be air trapped in the system.

It's all about the little details....I can't tell you how many WJ's I see on the regular with that window trim all bubbled up and nasty. Mine's probably getting a winter bath today too, and hopefully a wax. I bet if you wash and wax yours, the heater issue will clear right up.
She got a bath yesterday but is still misbehaving. Lol even my wife said it didn't deserve a bath. Now to top it off my heated seats don't work. Both at the same time, so I'm hoping its a fuse somewhere but I haven't found out which one yet, the manual and fuse cover disagree as to whats what.... The circuit breaker C2 is good, that relates to the power seats as well as heat. Could be the heated seat module, since both went out at the same time I'm guessing its not the heating element itself.
Ordering new tires, 2.5" front and 2" rear lift kit with Bilsteins from Fat Bobs, Maybe a 3" exhaust from y pipe back with new y pipe depends on what the wifey will let me get away with. And going to finally install the new grill I got months ago ha ha
Your "y" pipe cracked! Oh no! Now you've got exhaust gasses leaking into the cabin. That's not safe!!!! Better get a new exhaust... Wifey wants you safe, right? hehehhehe
Next up for me is a little more hydro dippin'. Thinking about rounding out the exterior by doing the rear washer squirter thing, the front license plate bracket, and the front lower fascia in carbon fiber.
HAHAHAHAHA...I thought about it. I'm also considering having Nate from Rebadge make me a rainbow sticker with your name on it to add to my shroud. I'm on the fence...hahahhaha
