What are you doing to your WJ next?

I thought a thread like this might be fun here...I know I've seen them in other forums (before I discovered the greatest forum of them all).

Here, I'll start...on my short list are:

New upper and lower radiator hoses and stainless clamps. Jeep's got about 85k on it. A new set of hoses is probably not a bad idea considering summer is almost here and the cost to do this is like $20.

Hopefully getting some parts hydro-graphic'd

Installing a bored TB (70mm)

Swapping out billet grille inserts for black mesh

Last weekend I did Bilstein shocks and PCV valuve, took pictures and planned on doing a quick write-up but lacking time with being a husband/dad/employee/student.

I have a new rear upper ball joint and rear upper control arm to put in. I have a new set of spark plugs on my entertainment center that should go in soon. I would like to get a 3" exhaust sometime this summer.

My WJ has 132k on it now so I have been working on replacing and checking the fundamentals. Next year I will get 6.5" IRO lift.

Be prepared with plenty of liquid encouragement, time, and energy for that rear upper control arm and ball joint. Mine was an absolute hooker.

I might get limited bumpers and paint to match, carbon fiber accents here and there, a back up camera, and some painting such as my roof rails and brake calipers... Other than that, I'm saving to get a 01-04 Mustang gt coupe next spring for a summer toy. But being 21, insurance is outrageous.. like $450 a month lol. I just might be waiting a few more years.

Oh I almost forgot, my Jeep needs a heater core and a/c evaporator... I'm not doing that, my Jeep will be going to a shop for the first tine since I've owned it.. I usually do everything myself except tint and alignments, but ill leave this to the pros as well lol

Cool thread idea.

Top of my list at the moment is shutting off the ABS light, diag reported a faulty wheel sensor so that's getting changed next Tuesday... Then day after, Aaron is going to paint my fan shroud to complete the engine bay.

Just got a e-mail this morning from USPS saying my KRC 218 cams are through customs so should get them Saturday/early next week. Holding off the install until next Spring I think - probably change heads and some other things etc too...

Only thing I can think of doing this year is getting Bilsteins and Eibach springs. Although I have no real motivation as I really don't use the Jeep any more or have the desire too. Done 29.5 miles this year (that was pretty much 1 photo shoot and taking it to work one day), very slowly approaching 50k.

Spend more time in my crummy '98 Civic which I actually really like and it takes a lot of abuse! :D

Great thread idea TJXJWJ! I've got to install the CB and antenna, order a lift (not sure which) and put my headlights back together. Hopefully all that will be done by this weekend.

This all depends on what´s next that will be breaking................
If it becomes too bad, i will blow it up................:D
I spend quite some money on the tranny rebuild and then even more on all speed sensors, line pressure sensor, solenoid block and an other fluid change within a year (and tranny fluid is quite expensive overhere, around USD 30 a liter x 12 (for flushing out the torque converter). Spend many hours in changing the valve seals, but at least that was quite a cheap repair (i think around USD 35 for the seals, the manhours where for free, not counting the beers though:lol:.
Then a new radiator, radiator cap, upper and lower hoses and thermostat. Due to the extreme high prices for imported car parts, i went to Miami to pick up some parts (could locally only find a paralel radiator for around USD 880 or from the dealer for USD 1400:eek::eek::eek::eek:). So i ordered several parts from Rockauto.com, let it send to my chefs house in MIA and picked it up overthere. Luckily i can do almost all repairs myself, otherwise i would be bankrupt by now.
Just put some Pirelli Scorpion tires on and i hope that for the next few months the only expenses i will have will be with gas.
Then, finally, i want to spend some money in a mod for a change, starting with some more V8 music.:violin:Lets see what kind of local silencers are available overhere.

Well since half of my center dashboard just went dark from a light going out, the first thing I'll be doing is replacing the dashboard lights. Then it follows as this:

1. dashboard lights (haven't decided what color)
2. spray paint bumpers and side trim
3. replace sunroof motor
4. replace headlights and get HID's

this is the order. subject to change if/when something breaks.

I was just wondering what did to make your rims that flat black. Did you use plastidip, vinyl or something else? I have a WJ the same color so I was wondering how that look would turn out and it looks like yours came out well so I may go through with trying it. I was thinking of doing the rims, door handles, grill, badges and gas cap in a flat black plastidip along with some Halo's in the front. Is that the way to go and do you have any pointers?

Everyone else feel free to chime in here because I'm new to all of this lol

Also does anyone know the best way to install an AUX port on a 2001 Jeep WJ with a stock radio? Do I need a whole new radio or can I just integrate an AUX kit. I saw some mentions online but many other Jeep owners had a radio with a "Mode" button which from what I read seemed to be important for the kit install. That's why I'm wondering if I need a new radio.

I've got the Mopar kit...pricey, but I was lucky to find it used for a good price on the for sale forum here. Works great!

Went out to my Jeep after work last night, and a puddle of antifreeze was under the radiator.. appears to be leaking from the passenger side near the top.. awesome! Just as I was gonna go for a k&n intake. Still have to track down the leak tonight. Hopefully its a hose not the radiator

#16 ·
If the leak appears to be coming from the top passenger side it could be coming from around the cap, or from the tube that connects to the overflow bottle. Although thats how mine is on the V8, I guess your 4.0L might be different. Could be coming from anywhere though, the coolant is under pressure and could spray out from somewhere else, I've even seen it where it gets to the fan and is spread everywhere under the hood!

Next up will be gen3 projector headlights and HID kit, just ordered them this morning! :woot: Oh and a folding ramp so the doggy doesn't have to jump so high to get in!

Probably window belts will be done this summer, I kinda put them on a back burner ever since I've owned the thing, but Tony got the fire lit under me to fix them finally! And probably a new power steering pump before winter, its been weak lately on cold mornings.

Today I managed to get the gas tank skid painted (POR-15 gloss black), and replace my upper and lower radiator hoses for good measure. I needed to spend $20 at Summit to get a discount, so I got hoses. I also replaced the clamps with stainless worm drive ones. I hate those constant tension spring clamps the factory uses. I almost hate them as much as amber lenses...almost. I don't know why, but I do. I like to feel how tight the clamp is...don't trust them. Kinda like how old people don't trust internet banking...hahahhah

Multiple pan replacement and finally go buy a boat anchor camper so my Jeep will be slower than a Yugo! Still haven't changed my power steering pump. Still works good unless you're sitting still. Someday........................................................

C'mon throttle body...get here today....

#22 ·
Ha, i know how ya feel, waiting for gen3s and hid kit........ Hurry up UPS!

#23 ·
You are going to friggin kick yourself for not doing them sooner....that's how much you're going to like this upgrade.
If you need any tips on removing the AMBER LENS, please feel free to ask....ahahahha.

:lol:Every "Amberphobe" needs a big throttle body to compensate for his color deficiencies:lol:. And what's this crap where UPS drops your stuff off at the local post office and then it comes in the mail. Wife says they do it all the time so quit whining like a girl. Guess I'm not fully aware of what goes on around me:confused: Still this is truly"Socially Unacceptable" to me. I want my tranny pan:mad:

#28 ·
It's probably a scam to keep whatever is left of the post office in business. Don't listen to your wife, its definitely "socially unacceptable". :slapfight:

#26 ·
All I caught there was "Socially unacceptible" and "tranny". Dude you're so intolerant...hehehehe.

#29 ·
after I fix whatever needs to be fixed I lineup of want to plastidip that gray trim on my Laredo that's fading.... not sure if it willow look good though:sly:

Listen, I don't care if you call it your "projector" or that you want to have a High Intensity Discharge...that's totally your business and if you want to wait until Saturday to "bang it out" that's totally up to you brah....unlike our friend Cheap, I don't discriminate between straights or trannys, or whatever. We all bleed Jeep here...ahahhahahah
