Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Fixing this damn wheel bearing noise, getting a couple TSB's done by my buddy who works at a Jeep dealership, and then starting to draft up the exhaust. Been reading up a ton on no-loss quiet-ish systems. Going to go from manifolds back, equal length head pipes in 2.5" to a merged Y, 3.5" single from there through a Hooker Aero Chamber, no cat. Probably do it all in aluminized first to get the design and testing down, everything I've done research on so far makes it appear like it should make massive gains. Cost should be about $300. I'm thinking this should free up at least 15whp. Plan to do back to back dyno comparos, pre and post SCT tuned. Thinking about going with 4.56's, too.

Although I may end up just using a Burns Stainless Y($$$$), I may attempt to make my own Y using this as a basic design/principle:

That is, assuming it won't take me until after summer to get all caught up on bills.

So far so good. The install was a bit interesting trying to get both the upper and lower connected at the same time. This weekend I'll go back and retorque everything and take some pictures.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Nothing exciting, but I replaced my creaky, popping, annoying door check on my driver's door. Amazing how the little things make such a big difference.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

I've decided to give myself a mod budget of $1,500 on the Jeep as she's getting old. This will include an '04 front end conversion, possibly lowering springs, and CCFL headlights and LED tail lights.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Spent 12 bucks on the K&N Cleaning kit, my filter was so dirty I'm surprised the engine could even turn over. Good news, there wasnt a spec of dust in the intake tube! Wound up using all of the cleaning solution as I did two cleanings before oiling. Still have a good amount of oil left, but the filter is spotless. Probably restored an HP or two Had to do something else for cool factor so I snagged a shorty antennae from pep boys. Gotta test out the reception on the was home from work to see if I need to return it and get a better quality one online. Im holding off on any big dolla mods at the moment, but I see some rain guards in the near future!
